The Silent Abscission
Inherits The Void

From Bandcamp, "The Silent Abscission" is a true turning point: a concept album about erasure, cosmic implosion, and isolation. Conceived as a journey through eight visions, it moves between incantatory convulsions and silent abysses, leading to an inevitable and overwhelming resolution. Like the collision of celestial bodies, the music whirls - riffs lash, dissonances burn, and harmonies collapse into silence. A total black metal, where matter and spirit are consumed within the same incantation, standing at the frontier between despair and eternity." "The Sepulcher of Time" is first, and it has a scorching pace and plenty of aggression, but there are also some guitar melodies built in a landscape of chaos and fire. Filthy vocals add to these feelings. "The Dawn Over Ruins" has a similar sound and pace, although some of the guitar work is quite intricate, and they are the primary driver of the melody on the album so far.
The title track hears the scorching pace continue, and the band shows no signs of slowing down. They douse you in gas, light a fire, and stand back and watch the flames rage. There is also a nice gentler passage with twin guitar harmonies. "In The Shadow of the Falling Star" has some really nifty synth notes in the beginning, and I have been waiting for them to show their face now through three songs. Synths can bring so much to Metal music, and I really wish more bands would use them. "Wrath of the Endless Sea" has a similar sound in the guitar work, and although it is thick and aggressive, a little more variation would propel the album forward more. The phaser effects and sax note were totally unexpected and added a lot of spice to the recipe. "The Last Cry of Cosmos" begins with clean guitars and it has a despondent feeling to go along with rage. The title suggests deep laments, and it could indeed be the cosmos pleading mankind not to continue to ruin the planet.
"A World Unmade" hears the desolation continue but there are also moment of pure anger. It's as if they are wrestling with a monumental decision that they just can't make, and the very thought of it burns inside. "Inherits the Void" is the final cut, and again the saxophone notes are almost sexy. Clean vocals also mix in, and it seems the band is trying to throw everything at you during this final curtain call. All of the elements blend together so nicely. The album had every sound a Black Metal enthusiast would want…horrid vocals, thick, intricate guitar work, and fast moving drums. The guitars also create some dual harmonies that make the songs come to life. Clean vocals and saxophone are often unusual instruments in the genre, but they work very well here.
