When the label "Hard Rock" is said in the middle of old Metalheads, it demands some explanation. During the 80's, bands that today are labeled as Glam Metal/Hair Metal were said as Hard Rock bands. But it's not easy to compare DEEP PURPLE (a classic Hard Rock band) with RATT or MÖTLEY CRÜE. It's the experience that can make things clear, so the Greek quartet SILKED & STAINED is a fine example of how dwelling in both worlds on "Goes Up to Eleven".

Their musical work is based on a melodic form of Classic Hard Rock of the 80's, with weight and an accessible insight. It means that the listener will find excellent catchy melodies, charming choruses and all those elements that made the fans have convulsions of happiness in the 80's. But on other hands, the band bears some aggressive parts filled with AC/DC influences (as can be heard on "How Many Miles to Heaven"). So it's a mix of influences of Hard Rock and Glam Metal, but in a personal and energetic way.

Mixed by Dion Christodoulatos and Mastered by Nasos Nomikos, the sound quality of "Goes Up to Eleven" is clear and defined as old albums of such way used to be. Everything can be heard without great efforts, and in a way that the listeners will absorb the best of the band's musical work. The album is really very good, bearing some excellent moments, as the dirty and nasty feeling of "How Many Miles to Heaven", the AOR clear influences presented during "Come Closer" (great melodies and chorus), the modern Groove shown on the melodies of "Take Me", the melodic and accessible ambiance of "That Feeling" and "No Way" (even with the crude touches on this last one), and the Accessible Pop Rock touché on "Reach Out the Sky" are the album's best songs.

SILKED & STAINED shows a good work on "Goes Up to Eleven", but as their musical talent is better than is showed on the album, their future can be great, if the quartet can deal with its cards in the best way.
