Methods
Silenmara
There are times when we see some mixes of Metal styles that really can make the difference, but it all depends a lot of the bands musical identities. Yes, you can mix whatever you want, but the final result can (and must) differ from the other bands (if others are doing the same mix). And some really get fine results from the mix between Melodic Death Metal with Metalcore, as the North American quintet SILENMARA. Their new album, "Methods", is a clear proof of it.
We can say that their mix is something between 75% or 80% of Metalcore with the rest being composed by their more Melodic Death Metal aggressive side. So, their work is somewhat personal, using a different insight from many bands on this musical path. And this is really good, with some melodic riffs into their abrasive and harsh tunes on guitars, some aggressive and guttural grunts (but with clean diction along with melodic clean voices), and a fine work done by bass and drums.
The sound quality is extremely clear as a Metalcore band looks for, but being abrasive when needed. So there's no reasons for complains here for this side of the question. The sound quality is good for a band that has both melodic and abrasive sides gathered together.
Their best moments: "Of Man" (having a musical orientation close to melodic Death Metal, but with some more Metalcore moments, and great work done by bass guitar and drums), "Of Machines" (very good broken tempos on a heavy weight song, with very good work done on guitars), and "Carbon Dated" (with some catching and charming moments, with some use of good clean voices). But I think the whole album will sound great for the fans of this style.
A very well made album.
