Scaphism - Unutterable Horrors album cover

There are many differences between Death Metal insights of the North American bands from the ones of Europe. All the set of features is what we call national identity, something that allows us all to understand the difference between Swedish and English Schools from USA scene. These countries were the larger exporters of the genre in the 90s. As a follower from the USA tradition, the quartet SCAPHISM is here with their newest eardrum disruptor, "Unutterable Horrors".

They are a band that plays simply the old and good North American traditional Death Metal, using some Thrash Metal elements in some parts (especially in the guitar riffs), but with tons of aggressiveness and an amazing amount of energy. Of course, they're not creating something new, but they have a strong and brutal personality that will turn you into a follower for their nasty and rotten music. The sound quality of "Unutterable Horrors" is brutal and nasty as their musical work needs. But they have chosen a clear insight for the tunes, so you can understand what they are playing, even when they sound as brutal as a rhinoceros attack. Yes, the impact is reinforced because they used this clear approach.

By the way: prepare, because they know how to pulverize your bones into dust with their music. The oppressive and fast aggressiveness of "Gruesome Unmentionables and Unutterable Horrors" (very good guitars, indeed), the catchy Old School approach of "Malapropos Cardiectomy" (the work from bass guitar and drums on the rhythmic session is truly amazing in some parts), the excellent mix between Death Metal with Hardcore and Thrash Metal influences shown on "Mitte eos ad Infernos", and "Excoriated and Excarnated" with its charming and nasty brutality (very good harsh voices, with grunts and screams during all the time).

Be prepared, because SCAPHISM is here to crush your bones!
