This album brought tears to my old eyes...

Yes, Norwegian band SAVN music really involves and can make emotions rise from the bottom of our hearts, on the first album, "Savn". And for those who don't know, the band's lineup is composed by former members from SINS OF THY BELOVED Stig Johansen and Anders Thue (they were possibly tired of many rumors of a reunion since 2000) and MIDNATTSOL vocalist Carmen Elise Espenæs. And how their music is excellent!

On "Savn", you'll find elements from their former bands, but it's a totally new concept, many steps ahead of what they have done, and it's incredible! It's heavy and elegant, charming and introspective, grandiose and a lot of terms your Ol' Big Daddy here could write. But I really prefer to leave you the pleasure of hearing and discovering each new aspect of their musical work.

The album's production was done by Alex Krull (from ATROCITY and LEAVES' EYES), who did the recording and mixing processes on Mastersound Studio (Germany), so you can expect a high quality of sound. It's as clear as heavy possible, so their music can be understood with no problem. Oh, by the way, there are many special guests on the album, as Liv Kristine Espenæs (Carmen's sister, singer from LEAVES' EYES and former member from THEATRE OF TRAGEDY) on "I Am Free", Michelle Darkness (from END OF GREEN) on "The Demons in Me", Dag Bjørkedal and Lillian Hodne on fiddles on a lot of songs, and strings on "Sorrowful" and "Lengselens Hånd" is done by LINGUA MORTIS ORCHESTRA, having RAGE guitarist Victor Smolski directing and recording. And the result is very impressive!

The best songs: "Musical Silence" (what a lovely and charming song, with great riffs and vocals), "Hang On" (great keyboard presence in an elegant song), the great "The Demons in Me" (having a great duet of vocals here), the perfection made music "I Am Free" (by the Metal gods, some song that have Liv Kristine Espenæs singing must be perfect, and here is another fine example of what I say), and "All I Want". All the other are good, so hear and discover it by yourselves, as homework.
