Stendec
Salander
Well, since the advent of some more introspective forms of making Metal music in the 90s, we got to be extremely open minded when dealing with some albums that, at first, could stir our world. Of course nowadays, bands like SALANDER are not rare, but the way they do their work on "Stendec" is too good.
It's a very tender and calm music, something very into Progressive Rock, not so heavy and with aggressiveness, with great keyboards giving the right and tender atmosphere, good guitar arrangements and solos, very good bass and drums works, and the clean voices they use are doing an excellent job. And be prepared, for their work is done with some very long songs, what gives some epic and jazzistic feelings in some moments.
The sound quality is near perfection, with all instruments delivering good tunes and sounding clearly to our ears. And in the way SALANDER makes music, it's extremely necessary such a clear sound and excellent quality level.
Obviously it's not an album to extreme Metal fans or those who look for something more energetic, but to those used, it's pure delight in form of music.
The better songs (besides the whole album being very good): "Book of Lies" and its extremely Progressive passages, with clear guitars and bass pulsing firmly; the beautiful "Ever After", with its extremely good taste piano arrangements; "Situation Disorientation", another track with good pianos and very good clean guitars and bass guitar; and the voyage into a universe of pure musical delight called "Controlled Flight Into Terrain", with great changes and a very dynamical song.
Again I must say: it's not an album for extreme Metal fans or to radical ones, but to all who have a good musical taste.<
