Never Meant to Last
Ryker's
And they are back for the attack, and once more, drooling their NY Hardcore fury for all to hear and see.
Yes, the insane Hardcore/Crossover quintet RYKER'S are back for another round, still showing fidelity to their musical roots after all these 23 years playing into the pit. And they release another musical statement, "Never Meant to Last".
They are extremely good, following the same vein from bands as CRO-MAGS, AGNOSTIC FRONT, and from another names from North American Hardcore scene. But now, even with their furious way of making things, using great riffs and a lot of great choruses, some melodies are evident. But don't think they were tamed, because they are still furious as always. Great vocals, extremely energetic riffs, and a powerful and heavy rhythmic session are the elements that empower their musical work, so beware of your ears.
The sound quality is very good, going against those who shout, "Hardcore must be recorded in a filth and unprofessional way". And let me tell you: a good sound production really can make a nasty and aggressive band becomes more brutal and nasty than some can think of. And RYKER'S members know clearly what they want to do.
"Never Meant to Last" has some invited guests as Mike Dijan on "Fair Play Overrated", Samuel El Action on "We Ain't Going Away" and Craig Ahead on "Distractions", and what was already excellent becomes great!
Their finest moments on the album: the fast and furious "My Demons", the crushing grasp from "Fair Play Overrated" (very good tempos in a savage song, presenting some great vocals and excellent riffs), "The Outcast's Voice" (where the purest essence of Hardcore is presented, with not so fast tempos and great choruses), the hooking caress of "We Ain't Going Away", the melodic and intense "The Age of..." (An instrumental song, filled with narrations like news on TV and radio programs), "Distractions", with its very good rhythmic session work, and "Cowboy Song" (a tender and experimental ballad, sounding introspective and somber).
Ride yourself, lock up you daughters, because RYKER'S are back!<
