In these days, there are a lot of trends in Metal and Rock, and the Old School tendencies of bands that emulate the forms of music from 60's and 70's is the one that is practically impossible to ignore. Thousands and thousands of new bands are arising as the reader sees these lines. But the greater part is truly unbearable, but on the other hand, few names are really very good. The quartet REDWOLVES, from Denmark, is one of them, as their album "Future Becomes Past" is really very good.

It's a form of Heavy Rock (that could be labeled as Classic Rock as well) that was done in the second half of the 70s, with an organic feeling and that bears influences from names as BLUE OYSTER CULT and others from the same school. It's melodic and accessible in a way that no one can resist, including excellent melodies and choruses. Yes, it isn't something new, but truly good. The sound quality has a very good insight: it's like they recorded a rehearsal, only plugging their main gears, making the easiest of the regulations of their equipment and played along. It's truly organic and full of energy, but in a way that everything can be understood without problems.

"Plutocracy" is accessible and shows excellent melodies (with charming guitar riffs and solos), "Rigid Generation" bears a wild energy with charming vocals, "The Abyss" is a nasty and heavy song, like BLACK SABBATH sounded on its Rock 'n' Roll moments, "The Pioneer" is a climatic song with very good melodies and a fine work from bass guitar and drums, and "Farthest From Heaven" is heavy and aggressive (but without losing the melodic grasp of the band). These are the ones that can introduce the listener to the band, but the entire album is excellent. Listen to how REDWOLVES howls on "Future Became Past", and enjoy the trip.
