Often, the dear readers hear my personal complains about how many bands can't create something personal. In other words, a music that will remind the listeners of your name. It's not very easy to do this kind of thing, but it's nothing impossible to be done, a trial for everyone who picks up any musical instrument and become a Metal musician. In the matter of identity, the quintet PREVAIL must work a bit more, because "War Will Prevail", their first album, is good, but nothing more than this. On "War Will Prevail", you'll find that same brutal and modern way into Death Metal that we all already know, with some bits of melodies (especially on the guitar solos), with some groove moments and a fine technique (nothing so highly skilled in this matter). But they are in a place that no band should feel comfortable to be: they have good features in their musical work, but are too attached to old musical formulas and ideals.

The sound quality is not a great problem, because it was done in a way that keeps their songs balanced between the brutal and raw aspects of Death Metal with the needed sound clarity. The sound producer and the engineer made a good work on this point. But the greater problem of the band is the lack of a stronger musical identity, something that can make the arise from the flood of the bands of the style, something that can make them face bands as MORBID ANGEL, DEICIDE, OBITUARY and others great names. It's not a disturbed conception of mine, but the main force that brood legends as BLACK SABBATH, METALLICA and others.

For now, songs as "BloodEagle" (brutal and traditional, showing good guitars and some modern elements), the bitter tempos of "Face What Remains", the excellent melodies and tempo variations of "Betyrayer" (this one is a clear proof of their musical talent, when their identity is truly clear due the excellent bass and drums work and excellent changes of vocals tunes) and on "Smiting Your Enemy" (this one being a bit more brutal and traditional), the fine use of melodies on the guitars on "Voices", and the abrasive work from bass and drums on "Seven Deadly Sins" are good proof that PREVAIL can do better than we hear on this album, and can be great.
