No one needs to create something original when dealing with music. Originality is something that only a few can do, but it doesn't mean that every band needs to create another musical genre. But the bands must do things on their own, and this last fact is what creates the differences between BLACK SABBATH and IRON MAIDEN, for an example, for both are traditional Heavy Metal bands, but they're not playing in the same way. So, don't ask the beginners of PLAGUE 9, from Adelaide (Australia) to be on other ways apart from what they present on "Mr. Ass", their first release.

Their musical work is based on a blend between traditional Heavy Metal with strong influences from Thrash Metal, creating something similar to what the Metal fans already know from albums as "Metallica" and "The Ritual". But this quartet bears an amazing energy and their melodies really hook the fans by the ears. And their songs pulses with a charming and savage energy! The production is very good. The tunes are right and dry, allowing their musical arrangements to be fully understood. But the whole sound ambiance is clean and aggressive, what let the listener takes the best of their music. It isn't perfect as their music needs, but it's truly very good.

"Stuck in Hell" is aggressive and melodic, and uses very good tempos and melodies (and shows a good work on guitars and vocals), like can be heard on "Criminal Justice" as well (besides the last one is a bit faster, and with a very good rhythmic work from bass guitar and drums); on "Flavour of the Weak", a catchy set of melodies is presented by the guitars (good melodic solos, indeed), and "Feed It" follows the same way, being a bit more heavier. And "Mr. Ass" is a song that shows "sabbathic" tempos and weight, where bass guitar can be fully understood, and the drums are showing a very good technique. PLAGUE 9 can be said as an excellent band still in formation, but as "Mr. Ass" shows, musical talent is not lacking on their work, even being a young band.
