Paradox - Pangea album cover

My dear nephews and nieces, Metal never ceases to surprise you old Big Daddy here! I was a young Metallian here on Brazil on the 80s, and on 1988-1989, a flood of good Metal albums took us by assault!

Yes, some great bands reached our lands, and one of those was the German quartet PARADOX that I didn't knew that came back from the dead, and is releasing albums. And now, I have the pleasure to review their latest album "Pangea". But I'll not compare their earlier works with the new album.

Here, you'll feel the elements that helped to build what we call European Thrash Metal School, or in other words, the perfect fusion between the aggressiveness and melodies from the USA School with a fine and brutal technique. And of course you'll feel the presence of some elements that will remind you from 80s. But remember: PARADOX is an old band, but their thirsty for new conquest keeps their music alive and insane!

The production was done by Charly Steinhauer (the only member of the band that was present since their first works), having Panagiotis Katsaounis on the mixing and mastering. The result of their efforts is a clean and aggressive sound quality, where you can hear all the musical instruments, but their tunes are clean and aggressive, in a way that hooks us to their music. And the art of Claudio Bergamin for the cover is really excellent.

And prepare your ears and your soul for a lesson in Speed / Thrash Metal, nephews and nieces!

"Apophis" with its hooking melodies and thrashing guitar riffs and vocals (and very good rhythmic changes), the aggressive melodies of "Raptor" with its technical tempos (and excellent bass guitar and drums works), the thunderous and fast "Balot or Bullet" (where the melodic vocals fit perfectly on the aggressive instrumental basis), the long and abrasive ones "Manhunt" (with excellent guitars once more) and "Pangea" (where the guitars and vocals create interesting contrasts that catch us), and the storm of thunderous drums called "El Muerte" (excellent tempos, great riffs and fine vocals) can be said as the band's finest moments, but the entire album is excellent.

The band is living an excellent moment, so hear "Pangea" and bang your fucking heads!
