Organic Illusion - The Linear Chaos album cover

Since Italy showed its potential in revealing good names in Metal in the 90s, the country is becoming a warehouse of new promising names. But one thing that was strange in the Italian scene: the modern Metal styles have few or no good bands. But as the quintet ORGANIC ILLUSION appeared, this space is finally filled. Their first album, called "The Linear Chaos", is a fine piece of modern Metal. To call their musical work simply as Groove Metal or Metalcore is not right. The labels don't fit, because even with the use of abrasive instrumental tunes and screamed vocals, their melodies are worked in a way that is really excellent. They keep away from the clichés of the style to create something charming and heavy, with the right balance between aggressiveness and melodies.

The sound quality of "The Linear Chaos" is really very good. The producer did a fine work, making the melodic side of their music a priority, but without tearing apart the Groove parts or the modern aggressiveness. Obviously, the choice for instrumental tunes that are not as aggressive and abrasive as we are used to hear on modern Metal styles was a wise decision, because it's the main reason that makes their musical style different. Their musical efforts are shown on eight very good songs, and it's very hard to choose their best moments. But as my Editor-Chief and the Boss of the Temple should cut my nuts out if I don't do so, you can feel that ORGANIC ILLUSION is a good promise on songs as the excellent "Innocence's Over" (where the complexity and groove are fused with excellent melodies, with a fine work of the guitars), the hypnotic aggressive melodies of "The End is the Same" (again an excellent work from guitars), the excellent vocals shown on "Last Night" (the use of very good tunes on singing is a very wise decision, because the screams are not so aggressive, and the melodic voices are not so clean as we usually hear), the charming melodies permeated by great tunes on "Facing the Flames" (excellent chorus, and great bass guitar and drums presence), and "Screams of Sorrow". Another good point to mention is that the quintet uses short songs (none of them is above 4 minutes), what turns things even more tasteful.

An excellent revelation!
