Nightbreed
Nightbreed
No, no, no, no, and for the last time, NO!
I really can understand, and can't accept a band that tries desperately to sound as those ones in the past. It's nonsense fallacy, something that shows hollow a band can be, and I say that in sense that the band is empty of personality, just wanting to be other band, and never itself. NIGHTBREED, from Greece, is a perfect example of a Dolly Metal clone with their first album, "Nightbreed". They play in a very good shape, I must say, but they lack of a personality. Their Thrash
Metal style is the same from bands from German Thrash Metal school from the middle of the eighties. Guys, we already have KREATOR, DESTRUCTION, SODOM, the old SLAYER, and there's nothing more to be done with what they left behind. It's boring, and hearing this album is a complete waste of time to those who already heard these bands I named above. It's like they were hearing a recollection of parts of music from the ancient bands of Thrash Metal in their earlier works. The sound quality is alright, dry, with all being understood. But the moldy and dust are presented again, always in the will to be someone that you aren't.
As musicians, you see that they are really skilled, but nothing saves "Nightbreed" from sinking. The songs are really boring. And to sound as an old school band is ridiculous, unless you can be as the Greek Thrash Metal Lords from SUICIDAL ANGELS, that shows a strong personality using an 80's Thrash Metal style.
I really tried to find some song to save the album, and you can see that they really are forcing themselves on the entire album, and "Epilepsy" and "Horde Of The Undead" could be good songs if they have, at least, a little piece of personality. I'll speak again: to play Metal is not a matter of attitude or to be like someone else, but a matter of being yourself. That's the secret of the energy of the 80's Metal bands.<
