Negatron - Tenebre album cover

To make music, in the essence, is to create something expressed of your own. Each good musician can create something (musically speaking) that can express his or her feelings and personality. If someone is doing something extremely alike another person, it's a copy. And in Metal, sometimes it's an annoying and boring thing to see clones appearing everywhere and every time. And to be true with you: "Big Daddy" here hates a lot clones. It's a truly crime in some countries to copy another band. But this is not an idea that we could apply to Italian quartet NEGATRON. No, they are a very different band, as you can hear on "Tenebre", their first work and album.

They don't obey to limitations, rules or bounds when they are building their songs. You'll find elements from Doom (the greater and major musical feature of the band), Black and Thrash Metal on it, along with some elements from Classical Music and others. Of course you'll recognize each one of these influences clearly, but their musical work sound unique. Great melodies, inserts of clean voices with agonizing tunes or somewhat narrative ones, all of these amongst very good harsh vocals, strong and dense guitar riffs, a rhythmic session with a good technique and making a heavy work on tempos, and some moments of organs and keyboards that enrich a lot the music. Of course, it's very good.

A good sound quality is presented, enough for us to understand what they're playing and for what the band is up to. But it could be a bit better, of course.

Having four short instrumental songs on the album, obviously the other six tracks must be somewhat long. But don't be disturbed, the guys here do not turn the album into a sleepy experience. Far away from that, "Tenebre" is a dark and very uncommon musical voyage. In songs like the long and full of changes "The Seven Angels" (with a pretty good work done on guitars), "The Fith Angel" (very good riffs, along with fine vocals with many tunes used), and the darkened and atmospheric "Requiem.

A very good band, indeed, and their future can be greater than we can conceive. But why in the blazes this 2012 album only reached my hands now?
