This fine mixing between Progressive Rock, Stoner Metal and Psychedelic Rock is something that will blow your minds.

There’s always a mistake when dealing with Rock genres: to present something as a new musical way when in reality, it’s a consequence of the past. The fusion of Progressive Rock traits with Stoner Rock elements isn’t new at all, and if one think about what giants as YES, PINK FLOYD, ELP and others did on the 70s, such mix would be saw as a ‘consequence’ of what they did back then. But such words don’t darken the shine of the musical efforts of the Belgian act MY DILIGENCE. What is heard on “Death.Horses.Black” has a valuable meaning.

The band and the known producer Francis Caste (that worked before with acts as REGARDE LES HOMMES, TOMBER HANGMANS CHAIR and others, and who did the mixing and mastering as well) exiled themselves in the Saint-Marthe studio (Paris), having the idea to record the album and to give to it the right sonority. It combines the rough and aggressive instrumental tunes (and the clean and introspective ones as well) they wanted with a defined and strong sonority that fits on the band’s music and gives it a different life. Presented on the album is what one can describe as a complex mix between influences of Progressive Rock, Hard Rock, Alternative Rock, Stoner Rock and others, but using dark and deep themes in a way that can sound in some moments heavy and aggressive, and dreaming and landscaping on others. And such contrasts are really amazing, imposing to the minds of the fans a delicious and outstanding trial on each track. Yes, it’s truly good!

“Death.Horses.Black” can be said as a tasty trial for the senses, especially for those that love something different from the usual and that reject to stay on comfort zones (even that such form of music is a ‘consequence’ of the past). And if one person say that can’t find something on “Death”, “Horses” (fine contrasts between distorted Alternative parts with clean vocals and some harsh screams), “Black” (that follows the same tendency of the previous song, but a more technical appeal with excellent bass and drums parts), “Auspicious”, “Interlude (The Bridle and the Bit)”, “Allodiplogaster Sudhausi” (nasty and haunting guitars, indeed), “Lucid Alley” and “Sacred Anchor”, this one must hear this full length many times.

MY DILIGENCE created a very good album on “Death.Horses.Black”, so dive into it!
