Forever Is Not Nearly Long Enough

Mind’s Mirrors

Wow, one can hear a US Power Metal form of music with clear traces from European Power Metal School, and many more! It's amazing!

One must have in mind that a genre’s label can cause confusion to many fans, because simply saying that you are dealing with this or that genre isn’t enough. Explaining things by an example: both ICED EARTH and HELLOWEEN are said as Power Metal acts, but their musical insights are totally different, and in the case of these two bands, the weight of explanation lies in their nationalities. Yes, because Power Metal for US bands and German bands are different musical ways. Maybe such words are enough to explain that “Forever is Not Nearly Enough”, the new album of MIND’S MIRRORS (that united musicians from Hungary and USA), is a Power Metal release, but not in the sense many are used to hear.

It was mixed by Attila Horvath at ASH Sound, and the final result is something defined, heavy and strong, bearing an aggressive appeal as well due the level of distortion used on the bass guitar and guitars’ tunes. And to improve things, here are as guests Dave Lescinsky (drummer of HADES and AUTUMN HOUR), on the harsh vocals on “Mechumanity”, “Counting On Me”, “In Your Room”, “Maenad” and “The Blur” (and that unfortunately passed away on 2023), Ron Jarzombek (of WATCHTOWER and many others) on the guitar solos on “Deadline”, Christian Münzner (former member of OBSCURA and NECROPHAGIST, now a solo artist and plays on ETERNITY’S END as well) on the lead guitars on “Glacial Extinction” and “Mechumanity”; and Steve Smyth (of FROM HELL and former member of VICIOUS RUMORS, DRAGONLORD, NEVERMORE, FORBIDDEN, TESTAMENT and others) and Michael J. Romeo (of SYMPHONY X) on the guitar solos of “The Blur”.

Again: when one says that a North American band (or that have at least one North American musician) is playing Power Metal, remember that USA bands (and musicians) on such genre are immersed on US Metal influences, so one can take some elements of Hard Rock and Heavy Metal in many moments, and even some extreme Metal touches (as extreme blast beats) can be heard in some moments; but pay attention that some usual elements for European Power Metal acts are heard as well. One can say that their music, even using a Power/Prog Metal label, it’s not ‘closed on itself’, what means it’s ample. And it’s incredibly GREAT!!!

And as two members are from Hungary, one from USA, and the guests are from the same country, it means that sometimes the songs of “Forever is Not Nearly Enough” can bring some surprises, and it’s really excellent. But’s not simple to chose best moments on this album, but for mere reference, “Mechumanity” (a technical and heavy song filled charming melodies and very good contrasts between clean and harsh tunes of the vocals, and excellent guitars), “Counting On Me” (a six minutes tracks filled with contrasts, and what lovely melodies and chorus), “Deadline” (here one can feel the clear influence of US Metal in many moments, but pay attention to some Thrash Metal intense riffing), “Eternal Spring Shrine” and “In Your Room” (the contrasts between introspective parts and heavier moments on both songs are amazing, with bass guitar and drums working in a great way), “Maenad” (prepare you’re your for some modern elements contrasting with Power/Prog Metal parts), and “The Blur” (wow, what fiery and fierce song, with magical leads and riffs of the guitars and insane blast beats) will do the job. Well, the irony is clear: all the songs (except for the intro “Glacial Extinction”) were named, so don’t be lazy, seat, spin the album and enjoy it!

The album is dedicated to the memory of Dave Lescinsky, and the mixing of European and North American influences shown on “Forever is Not Nearly Enough” is great. And it’s clear that the fans are expecting that it’s just the first release of MIND’S MIRRORS, and more is coming in the future!
