Mind Patrol - Against All Predictions album cover

When an old Metal genre comes back to life after some years in the deepest parts of underground, it needs to have new features agglutinated to the old ones. It's like a new outfit to something that already exists. That's what I try to teach to many fans and bands, because you can't lay your hopes on what is already done, you must do something different. And the Swiss quartet MIND PATROL seems to be on the right path, as their first studio album, "Against All Prediction" shows.

They are deeply influenced by those old masters from German Thrash Metal School (especially DESTRUCTION) with some influences from Bay Area Thrash Metal. And even some melodies from traditional Heavy Metal can be heard (especially on guitar solos), turning their songs easier to be understood and assimilated. It's nothing new and they have a ways to go, but this album is really good and shows that they can evolve a lot. The production, mixing and mastering were done by V.O. Pulver at Little Creek Studios. And his work was done in a way to keep their music sounding aggressive, but with some rawness (that don't damage their musical work at all). You can understand the band clearly (bass guitar is so clear that no efforts must be done to comprehend what it is playing).

Bearing six very good songs, "Against All Predictions" is a very good debut. But the Hardcorized feeling of "Till We Die" with its very good riffs and solos, the really fun "Drinking Song" (what excellent melodies, and fine work from bass guitar and drums), the sharp and aggressive rhythm of "Schizophrenia", and the bitter melodies that guides "Doomsday" (some modern Groove/Thrash Metal influences can be detected here) are fine samples of a band that will make you shake your heads until you drop! They're a promising name, so listen to "Against All Predictions" and find out what MIND PATROL can offer to you.
