Southern Metal
Methane
Lovely, indeed!
"Southern Metal" is a very good EP from a new name on Sweden Metal scene, METHANE, a furious quartet.
What they call Southern Metal is only the old and good Groove Metal with great doses of Rock and Roll, but it sound very personalized the way they do. It's an amount of good low tunes howling vocals (nor harsh or guttural ones, but using the normal voice), great guitar works (a mix between some AC/DC and bits of BLACK LABEL SOCIETY), bass and drums forming a very good rhythmic basis. It's the way some southern USA bands play, with melodies, aggressiveness and an oiled sound, seeming that they're playing on a very smoky bar, with men ready to get in a brawl for a girl or a beer.
A good sound production, making all the instruments sound clear, heavy and oiled, it's a guarantee of a very good music for our ears and hearts.
The charming and mid tempo "Scars and Bars" (heavy riffs and great vocal work here, with high doses of energy), the overdose of weight "Pray for Death" (great guitar solos, some more melodic moments, and great chorus) and the powerhouse "Hang Me High" are guarantees for a very good future for the quartet. They seem to have blood and guts to fight for a place in Metal scene!
Very good EP, and the only thing I can complain is: it's too short, guys!
Come with an album soon!
