Marduk - Frontschwein album cover

The Swedish Black Metal war machine is back to the front, turning into pieces, all in sight!

Yes, the legendary quartet MARDUK comes again, furious and aggressive, with their new album, "Frontschwein", an all-out-war release!

First of all, your Ol' Big Daddy here must say that the band, in some manners, took elements from "Panzer Division Marduk" and "World Funeral" times, along with features from "Plague Angel". The band is still fast and furious, but along with some slow songs. Mortuus is singing even better than the previous works, his diction is way better, and knowing how to use many tunes of his voice. The experienced Devo (bass) along with the newcomer Fredrik Widigs (drums) create a thunderous rhythmic mass, fast or slow as the songs demand, and with some good technique. And I left Morgan for the last one to speak clearly: his guitar guides MARDUK's music as a whole, and his riffs are perfect. It's not a sin to see him as an Extreme Metal version for Tony Iommi. So mixing all these elements, we all will feel in our ears what the band really can do. It's the very same style from previous albums, but going a step ahead.

The sound production fits perfectly to what this album needs: is raw and dirty, but with very good sound quality. You'll hear all musical instruments separately, with very good tunes chosen, but aggressive and brute as the band needs. It reminds us all of something between what we heard previously in "Serpent Sermon" and "Rom 5:12", but way better.

MARDUK's music soul is the arrangements. They're done in a way that you couldn't suppress one or put one more. The songs are perfect the way they are.

The album is excellent from the beginning to the very end, but the better songs are the thundering and fast "Frontschwein", with perfect guitars, that are back on the furious blood puke called "Afrika" (the way Mortuus is sing is perfect here), the slow and bitter "Wartheland" (the way the rhythmic kitchen is presented in this song is something astonishing), the excellent "Rope of Regret", the darkened and somber "Nebelwerfer" (slow, heavy and bitter), and the fast and destructive "Thousand-Fold Death" (perfect works from Morgan and Mortuus again, in a speed of the light song). But Big Daddy here must say again: this is a perfect album, a perfect artifact for mass destruction, without any kind of mercy!

MARDUK's name means quality always, so buy it as soon as possible, and be prepared for war!<
