Magenta Harvest - Volatile Waters album cover

If you can gather on one band former member of ...AND OCEANS, FINNTROLL and HAVOC UNIT, of course you'll expect something in their past works in this band. Forget it, for being a very good band, MAGENTA HARVEST, with their first album, "Volatile Waters", is far away from them.

Their style is Death Metal, but as we could expect, not so simple as the label suggests. It not only those kind of aggressive and abrasive music some can hope, for it flows with some melodic aspects, guitars in the Finnish way of extreme Metal (besides some moments we can hear the influence of Swedish Death Metal on them), excellent grunt vocals, and a technical and heavy bass and drums work. So, expect something very good.

Good sound production, putting all the instruments where they must be, sounding clear and aggressive as expected, so prepare your ears. The artwork for the cover is fine.

Their best songs: the aggressive "End and No Remembrance" (great guitar riffs, and some harsh vocals in the middle of the grunt ones), "One Walks Down" (with some very good melodic elements), "Apparition of Ending" (again good melodies arise from the guitars, having a great work from bass and drums as well), "Limbo in Rime", and "Carrion of Men". The band got their best results when melody arises and they got in a slower way, but it's a question what they want to do, not me to suggest.

Good indeed, but they really show that can be better, so, let's hope a great future for MAGENTA HARVEST.
