The End Of Time
Lord Symphony
One of my favorite moments as a writer, is to be able to follow a band's career as it goes on and on, to hear their albums and get the right idea of how a band evolves. Of course, there are very bad experiences in doing such things, but there are the ones that make yourself happy, because you can hear that a band can be honest and true to its personality. Once more, I have the pleasure to review an album from Indonesian sextet LORD SYMPHONY. They are back with their new album, "The End of Time".
The style hasn't change at all: it's still that old and good form of Power Metal influenced by names as HELLOWEEN and the German school of the style. But one thing is different: they use some influences from traditional Heavy Metal (as we can hear dual guitars parts) and even Classic Rock (on keyboards parts, we can feel some influences of RAINBOW and YNGWIE J. MALMSTEEN'S RISING FORCE) this time. Their insight is very personal, a thing that they have a lot of. Even not being something really new, it's extremely good to our ears.
The sound quality is better than on "The Lord's Wisdom", clear and with all the musical instruments with very good tunes, and everything in their due places. As well, the balance between musical weight, aggressiveness and sound clarity is at a very good level, allowing us all to take the best of their musical work. It's really very good. Elegant, catchy and inspired, "The End of Time" is amazing, with fine melodies, great harmonic lines and charming choruses. Maybe Asia is becoming too small for their work.
Due the balance of musical talent of all the band's members, all the songs on "The End of Time" are precious, but we must applaud the catchy and powerful "For a Dream" (very nice chorus, great work from guitars and very good vocals), the heavy and excellent work from bass guitar and drums on the hypnotic "The End of Time" (and how lovely the keyboards' parts sounds to our ears), the very good dynamic between keyboards and vocals on "Lost Soul" (here, some Epic Metal influences can be heard due the very good tempos), the introspective melodies of "Garden of Souls", and the musical virtuosity shown on the instrumental "Gate of Infinity". The album's only flaw is that it's too short. It's a very good work and they are great.
