Lieweaver - The Origin album cover

Bands into Metal have to expand limits to earn their public, and this is the main reason for some unusual works that can be heard today. The unusual is what brought attention to BLACK SABBATH, METALLICA, DEATH, MINISTRY, SLIPKNOT and other names, and maybe it's the driving force behind the work of LIEWEAVER, a Ukrainian band that comes storming with "The Origin", a 5-tracks EP.

The sextet can be said as a band that mixes influences from Deathcore (the reason for a very good technical work presented by the band) and Death Metal in a balanced way, but having experimental traces given by keyboards and synthesizers parts. So be prepared to a smashing bones form of music, aligned with ethereal experimental touches, full of a nasty and abrasive energy. And the use of low tuned instrumental tunes matches with the grunts and horror-like orchestrations (as can be heard clearly on "Revelation"). Of course, their formula must mature a bit more, but they're on the right path.

The sextet worked on a good way on the studio, because the sonority of "The Origin" mixes the abrasive tunes of Modern Metal ways with a massive weight, but always in a defined way that turns the hearing of their an easy work for the fans (and to non-fans as well). It's a good work, indeed, although it could be better. "Revelation" is short and begins with horror-like effects, but soon becomes the brutal assault of guitar riffs and nasty grunts (with some very good keyboards parts in the middle of brutality). Slower and nasty, "Paradox of Creation" is filled with extremely technical tempos (what improves the very good work of bass guitar and drums), and the same can be heard on "Void". An accurate technical work from bass guitar and drums can be heard on "Mourning Father", another attack with a grasping and oppressive weight. And "Obsessed With Purity" is filled with catchy and nasty parts, and what good work from guitars and vocals once more.

It's obvious that LIEWEAVER can dare a bit more in the next time. But "The Origin" states clear that they have musical talent to face the giants of their genre looking into their eyes.
