Kryptonite
Kryptonite
Hard Rock, Glam Metal, AOR and Classic Rock are genres that never get old. If a band plugs along guitar, bass guitar and drums, starts to play, everything will be the very same as it was in the 80s, the great era of these genres throughout the world. That's the reason for the great rebirth of them on Europe, for the things for Metal in USA by now are all underground. But even the success is not the same from the past it doesn't mean that great albums can't be done today on these. The Swedish quartet KRYPTONITE is here to be a living proof of my words. Listen to their first album, "Kryptonite", and see what I mean.
The old and good Classic Rock/Glam Metal from the 80s is presented on this super group. We call them this way because the band is composed by Jakob Samuel (from THE POODLES), Pontus Egberg (from TREAT and KING DIAMOND), Robban Back (from MUSTASCH), and Mike Palace (from PALACE), and under the guidance of the producer Alessandro Del Vecchio and Serafino Perugino, so we have this savage and hooking flow of energy, with accessible musicality and arrangements, and all working like a perfect oiled machine, unleashing excellent songs.
The production of "Kryptonite" is a very good work of Alessandro Del Vecchio, who create a clear and aggressive sound quality with that essential touch of rawness that a band from this form of Rock'n'Roll needs. But be sure that it will make you travel back in time to the 80s! With very instrumental parts along with excellent vocals and backing vocals, the band creates a great musical work indeed, and having the helping hand of Alessandro Del Vecchio, Pete Alpenborg and Mats Valentin playing the keyboards parts, so be prepared to be seduced by KRYPTONITE's music.
"Chasing Fire" with its great 80s atmosphere and excellent chorus, the AOR/Hard Rock feeling of "This is the Moment" (again great backing vocals along with tender keyboards melodies) and of "Keep the Dream Alive" (this one with excellent guitars contrasting with keyboards), the radio AOR scent that is expelled from the melodic lines of "Fallen Angels" and of "Love Can Be Stronger" and the solid presence of bass guitar and drums on both songs, the nasty energy and excellent vocals of "Get Out Be Gone", the purest breed of New Jersey Pop AOR shown on "Better Than Yesterday" and on "No Retreat No Surrender" are outbreaks of the purest Hard/AOR/Glam Metal you can find.
Forget the past and enjoy the day, but please, listen "Kryptonite" as fast as you can, because it is amazing!!
