King Fear - Frostbite album cover

Black Metal is one of most popular Metal styles of all times, and it really still give rise to some good names, and now it's time for KING FEAR come with the first full-length, "Frostbite". They really do nothing that is genuine at all, all of us are tired of hearing what this German trio does, but it doesn't mean that it's not good.

The vocals really are nothing that we haven't heard before, both in harsh or more darkened ones (even being Natchgarm, former DARK FUNERAL vocalist, the one who's singing), the guitar riffs are all right, in a more Second Wave way (and sometimes you can hear some Thrash Metal influence), drums and bass getting along as must be. Their music has some value, but it's not the eighth wonder in the world.

A harsh and poor sound production awaits us all, and even we speaking about Black Metal, they could do something better. It does not turn the album a worst, but could be better in some ways. The artwork is artless, but good.

Obviously, the band has some good songs, as "Conquering the Useless" (with some good guitar riffs), the more mid tempo "Death Zone" (the drums and bass really are fine here), the tenebrous "Frostbite", and the very good "Empires Aloft", and even not being a total loss, you'll all fell the sensation that they could do something better, they have not only this to offer. There are darkened and good treasures that they still hid from us all, and need to be put out of their black hearts.

It's a good work, but nothing more than these, and hope they'll come back soon with a better work.
