As everyone can have in mind, when a trend becomes evident, those bands that are in the top of it have some years of experience on their shoulders. But it doesn't mean that all bands from a local scene shares the same success. Florida had a strong Death Metal scene in the second half of the 80's that was from where (along with English and Swedish scenes) the invasion of Death Metal started and brought the genre back to the evidence. But many acts from those days remained hidden into underground, as KILLING ADDICTION, from Ocala (Florida), who now comes with their second album, "Mind of a New God", 28 years after their debut, "Omega Factor".

Their music is a formal form of Old School Death Metal, sharing the same elements from other giants from those days. It's brutal, massive and nasty, but with a careful insight on the musical arrangements. Obviously some can think that they play in an old fashion, but what one could expect from a band that was born in 1989? Yes, it's the classic Death Metal form, but with a modern aggressiveness. And it's very good. The band had chosen Ray Helton to produce and make the sound engineering on the studio. But the sonority of "Mind of a New God" respects the band's past, with the nasty and abrasive insight of the genre, but with modern definition, in a way that even a dummy can understand.

Musically, "Mind of a New God" with its fast tempos and aggressive growls, the simple and brutal approach of "As Utopia Burns" (some guitar riffs are heavily influenced by old POSSESSED), the mix between fast and slow moments heard on "Destroyer of Worlds" and "Dark Realm Atrocity" (good rhythmic work from bass guitar and drums), and the morbid and abrasive approach of "The Chaos Older than Time" are here to state that KILLING ADDICTION deserves a chance from every Death Metal fan. In the end of all, KILLING ADDICTION proves that "Mind of a New God" is worthy of a try. So listen to it loudly, and let the complaints of the neighbors start!
