Faith in Flesh
Karne

Extreme Metal is really astonishing sometimes due to historical aspects. In this particular case, we can see that French quintet KARNE is a Black Metal band that inherit all the old spirit from LLN (Les Légions Noires, a musical union that seemed a lot with Norwegian Inner Circle) bands, but with a step ahead, and with the eyes in the future. Their debut album, "Faith in Flesh," is a very good surprise for us all, my dear nephews and nieces.
Hearing the album carefully, we can detect a very particular work, with personality, for we have a mix between elements of harsh and raw Black Metal bands like 1349 and GORGOROTH with the melodic aspects from DISSECTION and LORD BELIAL (in the guitar riffs they're extremely clear). The best of both worlds in a very good album, with great and aggressive vocals (and if you don't know at first hearing, you'll for sure will never think that Eingeweide could be a woman. And she sings wonderfully, in very particular tunes), powerful and insane guitar riffs (both H.K.A. and R. form an excellent guitar duo), and Bael (drums) and Hraesvelg (bass) creates a strong and very good rhythmic basis. "Faith in Flesh" is an explosion of brutality, but with elegance and quality.
Merging good sound quality with a brutal and harsh grip, we can understand their musical work in a very high level. But remember: KARNE is one of those bands that, if you tear apart the filth and raw aspects of sound quality, you'll completely disintegrate their musical personality.
Better moments: "Agony" and its charming guitar riffs and great vocals... "Darkest Fear" and its great tempo changes (see how bass and drums are strong here)... and the excellent ones "The Mass Grave" and "Kill Me Again." Therfore, the entire album is excellent.
The LLN spirit is alive here, so buy it without fears or regrets.
