Ironbird - Ironbird album cover

Well, the Hard Rock format from 70s is really evident in the last five years. A lot of bands appear playing in such way, the greater part of them being extremely boring, just being a kind of "more of the same" as we call those that are just copying other bands' works and putting nothing from themselves on their own music. But some as Swedish IRONBIRD are different, as we can hear on "Ironbird", their second and new album.

We find on the album that old, melodic and even moldy form of playing music that reminds me of the second half of the 70s, when bands used the weight of BLACK SABBATH (the vocals reminds a lot that high tuned vocals that Ozzy used on the past) along with fine melodies to create something different. Today, it sounds outdated, but they are pretty good, besides some improvements could be done. The sound quality is fine. As long as the band emulates the 70s heavy and rusty Hard Rock format, the production tried to make the sonority as clear as it could be, for the band's musical work rests on old conceptions. But the sonority is really good, attending the quintet's expectations and the public's needs.

Their eight songs are fine, although you'll have that sensation that says "I heard it somewhere before". But the catchy energy of "River" and "Friends" (this one with very good vocals), the nasty and moldy Hard Rock scent that flows from "Mist" (good rhythmic work from bass guitar and drums), the bitter and introspective weight of "Chains", and the energy of "Avia" (that shows very good vocals) will get you for sure. Listen to it carefully, and you'll be hooked by their work.
