InSammer - Seeds album cover

There are times when we, the old Metalllians, have to face the future, and make a choice: to stay with your musical taste dwelling on old forms of music, or to accept the modern ways. This choice, to be honest with you all, cannot be done consciously, and if you speak that you can (as you were the all-powerful being in the music universe), you're saying that you command your musical taste, a feature that we all know that isn't possible, unless you live into an isolated life. And bands as the Swedish quintet INSAMMER are a trial for some, because "Seeds" (their album) presents us to a different form of music.

It's a modern approach on Metal using an abrasive Groove to fill their songs with a bittersweet energy, but feed as well by charming and modern melodies. So, it's nothing that a Metalhead who loves the 70's, 80's and 90's can really assimilate, but they aren't a bad band. It's the opposite, because they are trying to breed their own musical approach, with a solid instrumental work and fine vocals. Of course, that they need to mature a bit more in some aspects, but they're in the right way. The production was done in a way that they sound pretty clear in their most melodic and introspective moments (where we can find an eclectic aesthetics guiding their work, with musical elements from many different genres out of Metal) but using abrasive modern tunes on the tunes. So, we can say that it's aggressive and clean at the same time, and it fits on what they are using.

Musically, their seven songs are showing that they are truly courageous, trying to build something new using the elements they can. And the powerful aggressive melodies used on "Forsaken by God", the Industrial Rock atmosphere that fills "The System", the modern eclectic Groove of "Punk", and the contrasts between aggressiveness and melodies used on "Seeds" are proofs of a band that has a lot to say and to give. But they must take some care, because to begin something different needs a lot of wisdom, because you can be caught in a trap. I say that because "Darkness" is a song that seems to not fit on the album due the strange approach on melodies, trying to sound Pop and introspective in a band, what they aren't.

They are good, have talent, and INSAMMER can be great, but some lapidating will make their music evolve to its fullest.
