InMe - Jumpstart Home album cover

As anyone knows, Alternative Rock was a must in the 90's, hitting the musical parades and dethroning Glam Metal from the USA musical mainstream. Of course Alternative Rock bands didn't have to come from the USA, but it was their main musical market (besides UK and some other European countries could have good answers to this form of music as well). Those were hard days for many fans, and all of them were drowned in a lot of musical garbage. But the English band INME has a point since then, and as they're releasing their latest album, "Jumpstart Hope", they show that are an honest band, that didn't came as opportunists looking for success.

The band has all those features from Alternative Rock from the 90's, but not following the same boring trend of those who always preferred to noisy to be called "cult" (cult to musical nihilism, maybe). But these guys create a very good set of melodies, tempered with a silk aggressive touch (that is improved in some songs), and a simple (but always efficient) instrumental technique. So their musical work can be compared to an oiled machine working at full force, and it's really charming. Another feature that improves things on their music is the sound quality. They use a clean and well-defined sonority, evading a rough approach, and it makes things clear and easy to be understood for the listeners. And the sets of instrumental tunes were chosen wisely.

The mix between excellent and accessible melodies with some aggressive touches works in a great way, and these guys had 8 singles in UK charts, and it's not an easy thing to do. And the nasty energy mixed with melodies shown on "Blood Orange Lake" (very good charming chorus and vocals), the hypnotic appeal of "For Something to Happen", the charming energy of "I Swear" (very good guitars can be heard on this song), the tender and warming ambiance of "The Leopard", the aggressive and technical insight used on some parts of "Alone" and "Rogue Waves", and the good balance mix of aggressiveness and melodies shown on "Shame" are their finest moments.

Maybe INME can't be a great commercial success again, but "Jumpstart Hope" is really a very good album, of that kind that you hear just to enjoy a very good time.
