Infectology - Innards of Misanthropic Embodiment album cover

Extreme brutality seems to be a trend in Death Metal in this time we are living now. But the essence of the style can be a bit different from what many can take. We must have in mind the Hell is full of good intentions, so to have the intention of creating something good in Brutal Death Metal could have some flaws. INFECTOLOGY, an insane quartet from Ecuador, is really a good band, but some improvements must be done, as we can hear clearly on "Innards of Misanthropic Embodiment".

It is insane, nasty and brutal, with a very good technique in each musical instrument. But the band has a clear weak point: they are not bad, but are far away from being outstanding. In a style that has strong names such as CRYPTOPSY and SUFFOCATION, you must have personality and guts. Although these guys have a lot of guts, they need to show a bit more personalized work, because they still sound like many bands that are prowling on the scene of the style. The sound quality is really strange. It's raw as Brutal Death Metal really must be, but it has some problems, especially on drums. The sound of the snare drums is really too dry, being strange in the view of the whole conception of their sound. Of course, it doesn't make the whole quality flow down through the tube, but it is annoying sometimes.

They have musical potential, as we all can hear on "Absolute Disembodiment", the nasty and disgusting "Deification of Insanity" (very good vocals), the good tempos of "Forced Unnatural Carnal Knowledge", and the very good guitars on "Dying On Cauldron", are proofs of it. But they need to turn their songs in something different from what was already done. If they do, I believe that future will show how good they can be.
