Idle Tears (Reissue)
Idle Tears
In the second half of the 80's, the great success on North American musical market was AOR and Hard Rock bands, maybe their historical link with more melodic and soft kind of music. This was the era of mega bands like BON JOVI, MOTLEY CRUE, DEF LEPPARD (even being English guys, made a lot of success on USA) and many others. But as well some good acts of AOR and Hard Rock remained on the depths of the underground. But sometimes one good record label gives us the opportunity of getting some good stuff from that era. And e must thank a lot to Yesterrock/Alive for bringing us the first IDLE TEARS album (and for what Ol' Big Daddy could find, it's their only release), having the band's name.
Their greatest differential is their vocalist, Liz, with a more melodic and good way of singing, along with great guitars, bass and drums, and of course, a very good work on keyboards (it's a clear demand to make AOR, not kidding), resulting in a great work. Maybe it's a bit dusty due the time of its original release and now, but always good. And how it's lovely!
The production back then was great, giving the band a great support to create a positive and catching atmosphere, what demands a very good quality in terms of recording, mixing and mastering, to reach our minds and hearts. Even not being the best quality you could hear, it's almost there (maybe we could say that the quality is 90% good). The remaster process made the music sound like a recent album.
They almost hit the bull's-eye with this album, creating 9 excellent songs, with the best ones being "Fingers on the Pulse of America" (great vocals and guitars, along with a catching chorus), the calm and extremely hooky "Oh No", the energetic "Until You're Down", and "Love in the Dark". All of them full of that "80's AOR" feeling.
Of course, we must thank to Yesterrock, that along with the former bassist Eric Scott gave a chance to new generations know their excellent work.
