Hellyeah - Unden!able album cover

In the end of the 80s, PANTERA arose from USA underground scene to take the world by force. Since then, what we came to know as Groove Metal became a wide range of bands, doing different kinds of musical works with that abrasive and strong rhythm. This style remains with some surprises for us, as the quintet HELLYEAH, from USA, shows on their new album, "Unden!able."

Of course, all of you know that the mentor behind the band is the drummer Vinnie Paul, former drummer from PANTERA and DAMAGEPLAN, but don't search for something from both bands here that isn't the musical Groove that permeates their aggressive music. Here, you'll find some very good melodies in the middle of the oiled sound of the band, event some little bits of Industrial Metal on some moments (as the effect used on "Be Unden!able". Of course, some of these elements were used before, but the way they are doing is really out of the ordinary.

The sound quality is fine for what they play. The sonority is strong, bitter and abrasive as the style demands, but keeping that essential touch of sound clarity that is need for us to understand what the band is playing. So be prepared for the massacre of your ears.

The album is very good, but some moments can be said as their finest, as the brutal and groovy "X", the bitter and savage "Be Unden!able" (filled with very good work from bass guitar and drums, because the tempos are not so fast, but the rhythmic session is heavy and technical), the depressive feeling that fills "Human" (where the Groove Metal reference to their music fits perfectly, and here you'll find the best work from vocals of the entire album), the hooking and savage rhythm of "Blood Plague", their personal version for the old Pop song "I Don't Care Anymore" (a song from PHIL COLLINS, that here gained a lot of weight and a different insight, bitter and abrasive, and some parts were from Dimebag Darrel old recordings), the brutal massacre of guitar riffs shown on "Live or Die", and the riot act in form of music called "Startariot". To boot, if you buy the deluxe version, you'll have four live bonus tracks: "Demons in the Dirt", "Moth", "Cross to Bier" and "Hush." It's a good album.
