Dissension
Halothane
It's very fine band from Melodic Death Metal with some Progressive Metal aspects. That's what your Big Daddy can tell about HALOTHANE, a trio coming from New York (USA), and their four tracks EP "Dissension" is a very good piece of music.
They mix parts of more introspective and dense music with technical musical arrangements and extreme vocals. But the guitars reminds something from old IRON MAIDEN here and there in terms of solos, bass and drums from a strong and bold rhythmic kitchen, so their music, besides it's not a original one, have personality.
The sound production could be a little better, for sometimes we have the clear idea that the guitars sound could be in a stronger and "full" way, but it's not a big problem for those used to independent works.
"Kingdom of Lies" (with great guitar riffs in a very melodic and introspective song), "Desolate", "Dissension" (with a bit more aggressive shape), and "Scars of Ashes" are fine songs, no doubt about that, but they need to work more in songs, for they're still so raw.
The band is very good, and solving some little problems, they'll show an even excellent work next time.
