Omnicide
Grimus
The brutality from some bands inside the extreme Metal Scene is something that can astonish everyone, but sometimes it covers the bands inability to do a good music, for noise even an empty stomach can do. And the New Jersey quintet GRIMUS shows that they're in the right track, doing an extreme and very good sound on their first Full Length, "Omnicide", a Deathcore puke in the face of us all.
Doing and extreme and very massive sound with abusive grunts in low tunes, riffs well worked, bass and drums playing like an unity and with fine technique, they really impress for their conscience of how to do their music, and to never open hand from their musical convictions.
Marco Bobadilla, one of the band guitarists, produced and mixed the album, having Alan Douches in the mastering work, and the result of their work is sonority very harsh and aggressive, but still well done and clear, making the band's sound comprehensible to us all and never riding the musical details of it. The artwork reminds us of something like stuff of old terror films, evoking old alien races to cleanse all Earth from human life, in a good work of Michael Gonçalves.
The album has nine pieces of extreme violent music, some very fast and others in mid-tempos, and the ones who called our attention were "Without Master", who mixes fest and weight moments with mastery (especially for guitar riffs), the monstrosity made music "I, Destroyer" (another one with great work from guitars, as well for vocals), the finest "I.V.A.N." (The bass and drums works are cool, and hear the power of blast-beats, like a shrapnel firing at will), and "Cradled by Misfortune", another violent and oppressive track.
For a first coming, it's very good, indeed, but we fell that they can do best than this, so we hope the next album to be a massive killing piece.
