Griffin - Wasteland Serenades album cover

Wasteland Serenades is the debut album from Griffin, a band that started as a project some time ago from ex members of Atrox, Bloodthorn and Dark Ages.

From the first tracks I expected the typical Bay Area metal, though after paying some more attention you can find some atmospheric elements combined with varied vocals, ranging from normal to computerized to swedish school growlings.

The tracks follow the same variety, with in your face metal, prog elements and swedish brutality, all mixed up elegantly demonstrating the capabities of those four experienced musicians. The very good production helps a lot too.

Still, the point where Griffin failed me is to keep me interested more than an average album. I mean, you would expect such an album to keep you interested, but sooner or later it joins the rest of the pile, unless you are really willing to explore it even more..

It is interesting, but not enough to stand out of the crowd...
