Between the final years of the 80's and the first years of the 90's, an special musical genre evolved: being born from the fusion between Hardcore nasty elements and tempos with the aggressiveness and brutal grasp of Death Metal, Grindcore had a difficult beginning, because such form of music could be unbearable for some for many reasons. But as time passed by and names as NAPALM DEATH, TERRORIZER, EXTREME NOISE TERROR and others brought Grindcore to a level that couldn't be brought down again. And following such musical way is the Swedish trio GRID, blasting ears and ripping throats with "Livsleda".
Musically, it's intense and massive, but in a format that is similar to those Grindcore bands from North American school, as RIGHTEOUS PIGS and DEFECATION, or in other words, being brutal and nasty, but not as noisy and extreme as the bands from British School, and there are many unusual elements on their work (pay attention to "Livsleda" and you'll understand). But it's noisy and extreme to make any non-used fan to have heart attacks, because to deal with this set of fast tempos and crushing arrangements isn't an easy thing. The production of the album was conceived to create something brutal and nasty, but in a modern way. It means that it's dirty and crude, but in a way that their musical work can be understood without complains (maybe it's pointing that the rawness comes from the instruments used on the recordings, and not something created on the computer).
Songs as "Indiffrence", "I Ruinerna Av Vår Ensamhet", and "Insatiable" are showing the pure Grindocre side of their music, from the fast and intense brutality of the genre to some Hardcore parts. But there are some moments when they show pretty experimental parts, as can be heard on "Livsleda" and "Doomed", features that aren't used on the most traditional form of Grindcore. Yes, this album has some surprises to show, indeed. What's left to say: GRID shows on "Livsleda" that they're can be evolving, so it's a turning point of their career. And as a writer, I'm anxious for that.
