Refueled

The Northeast region of Brazil is extremely rich in cultural terms, because poetry (the popular poetry is really beautiful), visual arts (the Brazilian sacral art pictures are heavily influenced by Cordel, and there are tons of sculptures influenced by artists of the region as well), and of course on music (Frevo, Xaxado, Baião, Forró, Xote, Axé, and many percussive rhythms, as one can check on Carlinhos Brown's work with SEPULTURA on "Roots"). But there are tons of Metal and Rock bands in the region as well, as GODHOUND, a Mossoró (RN)-home based quartet that, after some years, released their first album, "Refueled".
Their musical work can be described as Classic Rock, or simply Hard Rock, blending influences of acts as AC/DC, LED ZEPPELIN, DEEP PURPLE, MOTÖRHEAD, tons of Rock 'n' Roll and Stoner Rock nasty touches, and that 'outlaw/rebel' feeling that seems to be forgotten by many. Filled with dirty and nasty melodies, the quartet's music has a strong hooking appeal, but always in a crude and nasty form. But pay attention: such words don't mean that the band's music isn't rich of arrangements (it's the opposite, to be clear), but things work to make their music viral, spontaneous and the right choice for drinking and enjoying a great time!
The organic sensation that the hearers will experience when dealing with "Refueled" comes from the sonority. As the album was produced by Kael Freire (the band's vocalist and bassist), their choice was for something 'stripped off' endless editions and digital corrections, like a rehearsal recorded at studio. It sounds great and monolithic, allowing the band to express its musical ideas and to be understood. The future will demand something better, but for now it's a very good result. There are 8 songs on the album (even on this aspect, they're truly an Old School Rock 'n' Roll act), with the due presentations being done by "Gravestone" (a greasy and raw slow Hard 'n' Roll song, based on a strong and hooking set of guitar riffs and 'iommian' solos), "Diesel Burner" (if this dirty set of hooking melodies and harmonic structures won't make you shake your heads, you're dead, and what great chorus), "Warriors" (these crude melodies will bring something between MOTÖRHEAD and AC/DC to the mind, but in a personal way, with nasty snarls of the vocals), "Deathmask Trucker" (something inherited of KISS appears on the excellent work of bass guitar and drums, and this one has the presence of the singer Jimmy London, of MATANZA RITUAL), and "Open Letter". But the album is addictive, and on the second listen, you'll hear all the songs for sure.
"Refueled" is an excellent first coming, but it's clear that the booze abusers of GODHOUND can offer great things in the future.
