Frozen By Fire - The Quickening album cover

United States has been providing the worldwide Metal scene with a lot of good bands throughout the years since the 70's, and some of them, of the underground, really do fine jobs, even when the band don't do anything really new, and FROZEN BY FIRE, a power trio from Las Vegas, really is astonishing, and with their second full length, "The Quickening", they show that they're not playing.

Doing a Hard N' Heavy music, without sounding "out-of-date", the band can become an addiction to us all, for their aggressive melodies are really charming and catching, sometimes remembering something of Canadian ANVIL. Melodic vocals, good riffs and guitar solos, and the rhythmic basis is heavy, and all these elements turns into a music that doesn't need a great technique, for it's an "all for one" music: together they are strong.

With a good and beautiful cover, and sound production in an impressive high level (you can hear all the instruments separately with no trouble at all), it's a fifty minutes heavy piece, who deserves a careful listen of us all. Eleven songs composed the album, all of them very good, being the highlights "The Quickening" (pay attention to the strong guitar work, as well the double bass), the catching "The Unknown" (with a charming mid tempo, good melodies, bass doing a fine work and great vocals), the ballad "Powerline Road" (where the vocals shows a more melodic work), "Whip Cums Down" (the most Hard Rock music), and the "hot'n'Roll" "Never Coming Home", heavy and with good drums work.

A very good album, so let's wait for some great things from them in a near future.
