As Metal and Rock evolved in Germany since the coming of the country's earlier acts, were set the foundations and features of what could be called 'German Rock inner features', and every and all genres shares them. One fine example can be said about German Hard Rock bands: the melodic appeal is in a level that it's almost impossible to resist, as can be heard on FORMOSA's new release, "Danger Zone".

The trio mixes a lot of Hard Rock/Glam Metal elements with some touches from traditional German Metal, and an 80's ambiance permeates the album (without being something forced by the band), with some nasty feral parts as well. It can sound similar to some features used by PINK CREAM 69 in some moments, but have in that this trio bears its own musical identity. And besides this specific genre isn't new at all, the trio really does something personal and full of energy, and it's hard to resist to their attack! The album's production looked for something that could be clean and that could be easily understood, but heavy and aggressive in the right levels. So the musical work of the band can be assimilated without efforts, but it's organic due the sets of instrumental tunes used. It's not perfect, but it's very good.

"Dynamite" is a mighty and catchy melodic blow in the face, with an excellent chorus and great work from vocals and backing vocals; the dirty Hard 'n' Roll approach used on "Masquerade" (AC/DC's guitar riffs, indeed); the down-and-out slow touch given on "Leader of the Pack" (a very good song to hear how the bass guitar and drums playing are precise and heavy); the introspective melodies created by guitars during "Manic Lover" (a ballad-like song with some heavier parts); the dirty and teasing energy that flows from "We Got Out Tonight" and "Light It Up" can be said as the best songs in the middle of excellent songs. Yes, this album is addictive!

Maybe some points are left for evolution, but FORMOSA's work is near its peak, and can side with many bands of the genre that are commercially successful. "Danger Zone" allows them for a higher flight.
