Final Words Of Sorrow - Reflection Of A Shadow album cover

Strangely, some countries when pass terrible economic crisis seems to breed fine Metal bands and works. And in Greece, the things are getting in a level never seen before, for great amounts of bands are coming from there, and the next one is the fine quintet FINAL WORDS OF SORROW, with their first work, a four track EP called "Reflection of a Shadow".

They do that form of Doom / Death Metal from the beginning of the 90's, with inspiration in earlier works from PARADISE LOST and ANATHEMA, having a good personality and energy in the middle of a slower music, darker and very heavy, the perfect marriage between BLACK SABBATH and old DEATH. But don't thing that their work is something soft. It's hard as Hell and heavy and a mastodon entering a crystal room.

George Cherouvim did the recording, mixing, and mastering, and their sound is pretty clean and heavy in a good level, but the instruments can be heard separately, reminding us all of the earlier Doom / Death Metal era, without keyboards or clean voices. And the oppressive atmosphere of their music is on the artwork.

All the four tracks ("Cold Womb", "The Embrace (Her Winter)", "Testament of Future Death" and "Reflection of a Shadow") are very good songs, with good slower riffs, fine work from bass guitar and drums, great grunts, showing good diversity, running away from clichés, but it's nothing new at all. But it's good the way they are, and the band only needs more experience, that the shows will lapidate.

A good first coming, and we can expect good things from them in the future.
