Fearancy - Dæmonium album cover

The combination of many features of Metal genres is a very good strategy to create something personal and different from what other bands are doing. And it's good to become recognized as a band that isn't cloning what was already done with the excuse that 'we're not trying to create something new' (sorry, but this sounds like a confession of the inability of one to make a personal work, or, in other way, is like admitting that one is hollow inside). And the Austrian quartet FEARANCY shows personality on "Dæmonium".

Their music can be seen as a boiling cauldron of many musical influences: Metalcore, Groove Metal, Death Metal, Thrash Metal, Melodic Death Metal and other traces from other genres can be heard as well. It's so deep and harsh, melodic and modern, and they really know how to create some astonishing hooks that are simple to assimilate (and hard to forget). And the energy that they unleash is excellent, as they sharp the choruses of their song in a way that is remarkable (as their ability of creating very good and technical arrangements). What are you waiting for? The recording sessions happened on the Romes studio, in Hartberg, Austria, and the band produced the album. But the mixing and the mastering were done by J-F Dagenais (the six strings master of KATAKLYSM), at JFD Studios in Texas. The sonority is abrasive and intense, heavy and aggressive in a way that can make the ears ache, but in a defined and clean way. And Jimmy Anastasopoulos (who worked on the samples, synths, and piano parts) is their guest, and the artwork of Diego Gedoz de Souza (the same one who worked HATEBREED, CYPRESS HILL, HEATHEN, and many others) really fits and reflects what their music presents.

The album's songs are fine samples of what 'skull-crushing music' means. But for a first ride on the album, the abrasive and modern "Last Disease" (that open the album with a modern Thrash/Melodic Death Metal approach, with very good and greasy guitar riffs), the brutal grasp of "Rise And Fall" (very good rhythmic changes are created by bass guitar and drums), the hooking and ass kicking energy "Dæmonium", the fiery smashing Groove of "Sacrifice" (excellent guitars and very good snarling vocals) and of "Rise Again", and "Agony" (the fine Melodic Death Metal touches are really amazing, contrasting with the nasty screams of the vocals) are the right choices.

Yes, these guys have music to create an earthquake in Austria, so be prepared, because as maturing sharpens thing for FEARANCY, they'll be great. "Dæmonium" is a statement of this.
