We Need Monsters
Ewian
Sometimes we need a more introspective and calm form of music to relax our nerves from the daily stress. And so, bands as the German trio EWIAN can really be good. To some extreme Metal fans, their work on "We Need Monsters" could sound boring, but it has its charm and value, of course.
Their songs are in a tender Alternative Music/Rock style, with those clean guitars with no aggressiveness at all, soft and clean voices, and a not complex rhythmic session, with keyboards and pianos sound reinforcing the introspective aspect of their musical work. And of course, it is not as technical as some could think, and they barely last five minutes. But besides these features, I can tell you all that's not an easy music to understand sometimes, being always from radio success. Their work can remind some from the more introspective and melancholic moments from OASIS and R.E.M., but these Germans have personality.
The sound quality is really good, being clean and keeping the introspective atmosphere created by the band's music in a very good level. But as they are not a Metal band, it has no weight at all, but they don't need it.
Their music has value, we can't deny it. And for fans of such work, it will really catch them for sure.
Songs as the tender "Ticket from Kingdom Come" (with fine clean vocals and guitars), the introspective and almost Pop Rock song "Star" (this one has very good guitars arrangements and keyboards), the accessible and fine arranged "Song for the Psychonauts", the good keyboards heard on "Quiet Like in Heaven", and the final song, "Love", with fine piano arrangements into the introspective and dense atmosphere of the track.
It's not an easy album to swallow, but it is very good, indeed. Hear it and you'll understand.<
