Subconscious
Evil Inside
Brazil is a nation that has historical problems that we keep since the colonial days. Our economy is fragile and it's done only for the employers to earn great amounts of money as the people die in hunger. But maybe this dystopian scenario can be the driving force for these lands being a great warehouse of bands. And from the sunny lands of Rio the Janeiro (not a wonder city, but a cursed one by violence and corruption) comes the quartet EVIL INSIDE with their first work, the four track EP "Subconscious". We can say that they're a traditional Death Metal band with a modern and technical insight that allows some melodies to appear on their songs (as we hear during the guitar solos and choruses). Of course names as DEATH (of "Human" era) and old ARCH ENEMY can be names that you can think when hearing their songs, but beware: they have a musical personality pulsing strong on their music. And they have potential and guts to make it grows strong and aggressive, but with a very good taste.
On the recording, Thiago Feitas produced the songs along the quartet, and he mixed it as well. Of course they had a very good work, because it was done to bound together all the musical influences and elements, with very good instrumental tunes and a good clean insight. It's not perfect, but it works in a very good way. And what a fine and beautiful artwork Eric Nascimento created for the cover.
Of course the band still has a way to go and evolve even more. But "Opening the Eyes to the Unknown" (aggressive and filled with excellent guitars and fine melodies on the solos), "Face of Disgrace" (that bears a modern and technical feeling permeating it, and uses a hooking choruses, a rare feature on Death Metal, and how great the vocals are), "Being Part of a Whole" (that shows a good technical work on bass guitar and drums, that create a strong and heavy rhythmic basis for the song), and "Subconscious" (a hybrid of modern influences with the traditional brutality of the genre, showing very good contrasts between melodies and aggressive harmonies) is proof that their time is now.
EVIL INSIDE bears what a good band must have: personality. So hear this EP and let yourself have a good time when "Subconscious" songs are being played. And by the way, you can find the songs on Spotify, Deezer and others.
