Eternal Rot - Cadaverine album cover

And I was having a very good day, with everything working on a fine way to me. But as everything seems to ruin as a castle of cards when you are happy, I have to hear "Cadaverine", the first album from the international band ETERNAL ROT...Of course the words above are just a joke, but the feeling is real. This duet put all their efforts on a form of Doom/Death Metal that is truly brutal and slow as we can't even think of. But I have to say a thing: they're doing a work that ancients like MY DYING BRIDE, ANATHEMA (on their earlier days) and PARADISE LOST did in a better and creative way, what seems to be absent of their music. Sorry, but this vain try to be extreme is a waste of efforts, because this putrid slow sound lacks of something that is really different and better, and the endless repletion of the instrumental parts are boring to death. It's like many slow names from the 90's that couldn't beat those ones that are written above.

On the production, another set of mistakes. To sound crude is not to be in such form, where some tunes are so low that are difficult to be assimilated. And the whole sonority seems to come from the earlier years of the 90s. It could fit there, but not now, not today. To hear such boring form of music is a task that only Heracles could do, because the whole sensation we have hearing "Undying Desolation", "In Their Decaying Eyes", "Putrid Hallucination" and "Slough of Despond" (here, some melancholic melodies can be heard, what is a very good point) is that the same track is being played again and again, with vocals in such low tune and loaded with extreme effects to sound as they came from a deep cave that we can barely understand a thing! If it was in the 90's, this album would never be released due the lack of creativeness!

Extreme in music, and extremely boring, "Cadaverine" is a fine example of a set of ideas that could be worked in a best way. ETERNAL ROT will return, of course, but I hope they'll thing twice the way they do things (put out the effects on vocals, use a best sound quality, and try to not repeat the same arrangements endlessly), for the sake of our ears!
