There's a great debate over the years about the influence of THE WHO, THE ROLLING STONES and THE BEATLES on Hard/Glam Metal and on Heavy Metal as a musical genre. Based on personal opinions, it's common to see people saying that these three legends are overrated names on music, or something like that (unfortunately, some people still live in denial, and let's be honest: their importance is something empirical). Well, if one what's to check the importance of THE BEATLES to Hard/Glam Metal, check right now new ENUFF Z'NUFF's release, "Enuff Z'Nuff's Hardrock Nite".

They can be described as a band that mixes elements from Glam Metal, Hard Rock, Power Pop and Psychedelic Rock (due a strong energy inherited from the genre that permeates their work). But on this release, the band had record some songs of THE BEATLES and from the solo careers of its members (as "Live and Let Die" and "Jet" are songs of Paul McCartney's albums, and "Cold Turkey" is a John Lennon's song). Obviously that ENUFF Z'NUFF did things in a way that is near their own musical ways, but paying respect to the original melodies. And it's really a very good release, indeed. The production of the album was conceived in a way that could be organic and without endless editions from computers, but in a way that the songs can sound clear and defined. The goal was reached in a very good way, because the old feeling of the original melodies is clear, but not without the feeling that they're recorded by now.

It's obvious that the choice for the songs would never be a consensus, because everyone would chose other names. But it's great to hear the versions for "Magical Mystery Tour" (a very good and catchy song, filled with excellent works and good vocals), "Cold Turkey" (the combination of a Pop essence of the original song with the Hard Rock outfit of the new version made it really a great experience, with good guitars), "Eleanor Rigby" (one of most rerecorded songs of the Liverpool quartet, here presented with charming keyboards parts and with a solid work from bass guitar and drums), "Dear Prudence" (here is presented an experimental song in a straight and dry version, keep its organic tender melodies), "Helter Skelter" (here a frantic and noisy Rock 'n' Roll that is presented on a heavier version), "Back in the U.S.S.R." (this abrasive Hard Rock approach used on it is a wise decision), and "With a Little Help from My Friends" (this one is a classic song, here filled with a strong energy).

Maybe "Enuff Z'Nuff's Hardrock Nite" is just an homage paid by the North American quartet, but maybe it's good for ENUFF Z'NUFF to think about a second volume for it in the future.
