Diamond Boy
Enuff 'Z Nuff
What is the reason for a band to endure hard trials and keep on playing, recording, and making tours and shows? The answers for this question are many, but all of them converge to a simple thing: playing Metal/Rock becomes an addiction, the best addiction of all. Maybe that's the reason for a veteran like the North American quartet ENUFF Z'NUFF to be alive and still kicking after more than 30 years of activity. And their latest album, "Diamond Boy", still shows what they got. As all Glam Metal bands from the 80's, they suffered a lot due the Grunge/Alternative Rock trend that took North American scene on 1992. But it doesn't mean that they gave up. No, there are still here, but for those don't know their work, they're not in the same vein of bands like BON JOVI, MOTLEY CRUE or W.A.S.P., but into a more Glam/Hard Rock way with elements from 70's, and even a strong influence from THE BEATLES can be heard clearly. And let me tell you: the energy, the weight, the charming melodies, all on this album is in a high level of quality, and it will take you by the heart.
The production was done by the hands of Chip Z'nuff (the band's bassist/vocalist), having Rob Pozen on the recording, Chris Steinmetz on the mixing, and Chris Steinmetz on the mastering. The album's sonority bears that organic feeling for such form of music works, but it sounds powerful and clean as well, showing that "Diamond Boy" took a lot of efforts. And the efforts done to find the right instrumental tunes for the songs were hard as well, but it worked. The savage Hard 'n' Roll song "Diamond Boy" (that shows a great work from bass guitar and drums, along very good vocals), the slow down the hill Rock "Where Did You Go" (here you can feel the influences from THE BEATLES clearly on the vocals melodies), the fine contrasts between a silk aggressive touch and charming melodies of "Fire & Ice" (an excellent chorus along very good guitars) and on "Down On Luck", the heavy and modern harmonies of "Metalheart", the charming Hammond parts of "Love is on the Line", and the good and heavy melodies on the accessible "Faith, Hope & Luv" can be said as the album's best moments. But you'll hear and love it entirely.
