Entombed A.D. - Bowels of Earth album cover

And the Death Metal locomotive of Sweden is back not only for one more round, but to spit a brutal and massive blood puke into the ears of those who stand in their way. Yes, ENTOMBED A. D. comes again with their third Death Metal assault, called "Bowels of Earth". Still brutal and rancid in a Swedish Old School Death Metal form, reminiscent of the old band from its members, but it still is a step forward in the view of their past. Of course those Death 'n' Roll influences are back as well, making their brutality more palatable for those who aren't into Death Metal. The band just sharpened its musical formula, becoming a bit clearer than before, but never giving up or opening concessions of their musical identity. All that's left to say: "Bowels of Earth" is one of the best Death Metal albums of this year!

Jacob Helner worked on the previous stages of the album's recordings, and Nico Elgstrand took over from a point. All to give "Bowels of Earth" a clean and weighty insight, with the band's aggressiveness explicated. But it was done in a way that the sound quality is clean and allows the listener to access the songs' core easily. And be prepared, because no one can stand up against their mighty music. And the best attacks are done with "Torment Remains" (an Old School Death Metal song, with excellent guitar riffs and vocals), the catchy energy of "Eliminate Them" (in some moments, the earlier hardcore influence of Death Metal becomes clear on the tempos), the clear Death 'n' Roll influences that can be heard on "Bowels of Earth", the funny and harsh ambience of "Bourbon Nightmare" (the guitars' work improved a lot on this album), the oppressive weight of "Fit for a King", their personal version for "I'll Never Get Out of This World Alive" (a Hank Williams' song that becomes a Death Metal anthem on their hands), and the experimental horror ambience of "To Eternal Night" (the vocals show their versatility on this one, and how lovely are the bitter melodies that fill this song).

The massacre is unleashed, so be prepared for ENTOMBED A. D.'s trial with "Bowels of Earth".
