After an age of intense evolution during the first half of the 90's, the Finnish Metal scene exploded to the world during the early ages of the new millennium due a massive raid of bands from every Metal subgenre. Today, the national Metal scene of Finland can be said one of the best in breeding new bands, and to hear an album as "Atrocities", from the Helsinki based quartet ENRAGEMENT isn't a surprise, but's truly excellent.

They base their efforts on a form of Brutal Death Metal with a more traditional approach on the genre (very good technical insight, fast and brutal, full of energy, and others), but with a personal approach. In some moments they can be compared to the brutality unleashed by acts as ABORTED and KATAKLYSM (on their older works), but with clear contrasts of traditional Death Metal in many moments (as can be heard on "Lethal Human Experimentation" tempos and riffs). It's really a very good work, so dive into it. Tomi Uusitupa is the name of the one who took care of the recording, mixing and mastering of "Atrocities", and he created a massive and brutal sonority, making things clean and defined, but with nasty and low tuned instrumental approach. It's like looking to a solid wall, but one can see all the bricks in it.

"Sadistic Sedition" (fine extreme fast tempos, contrasting with some very good rhythmic shifts, and what excellent guitar riffs), "Lethal Human Experimentation" (besides the fast speed, some slow parts can be heard, and what great technical works of bass guitar and drums), "Decimating Winds of Phosphorus" (the slower parts reinforces the oppressiveness of the song), "Heavenly Inferno" (another song with some very technical approach, and with guttural snarls contrasting with high-pitched screams), "Trade in Viscera" (the slow parts show some elements that are usual for Finnish extreme bands, a subjective melodic approach during the slow moments), "In Cinder" (bone crushing speed based on a good sustain given by the rhythmic changes), and "Cast into Perishment" are the right ones for drilling through the ears and for making your neighbors lament, but all the tracks are great, indeed.

"Atrocities" can be said as a fine blend between traditional Death Metal and Brutal Death Metal, so enjoy this offering created by ENRAGEMENT.
