From their EPK, "It has become a nice tradition in recent years that every album has an overriding theme. This is also the case with the new record of the Berlin band, "Apokalypse Galore", whose title already indicates the direction: all songs revolve around doomsday scenarios in the broadest sense. Fittingly, the sound is more bitter, evil and sinister than on previous albums. The Symphonic Dark Metal is increasingly enriched by Black Metal elements, but there are also plenty of chamber music, bizarre and eerie romantic moments." The album has eleven songs.

"Hure Babylon" is the first. The opening tones are slow and weighted, with a bit of symphony backing them. The vocals are harsh, but not overly deep or screeching. They are also sung in the band's native language. "GeysterGaleere" is another slow groove, with that familiar two-step chord of Black Metal. The riffs leave a little to be desired...they are fairly simple in scope. "Wir sind der Drache" swings with an energetic jaunt, along with some more light symphonic elements. The vocals do a nice job of filling in the sound so that it is well-rounded. "Schere im Kopf" features more of that "Black 'N Roll" sound...a combination of NWOBHM elements and traditional Black Metal.

"Die Körpersammler" begin with light cello notes and spoken words. The album is half over at this point, and none of the songs excite me much, but I will keep listening. "Als der Tod vom Himmel fiel" has some eerie keys in the beginning mixed with the simple riff. But they don't expand on them much, and the song falls flat in the end. "Für ein Hallelujah" has some very creepy vocals, along with a deeper and darker sound, although the cadence of the vocals is beginning to sound very familiar. "Am Ende aller Zeiten" closes the album, with an instrument we haven't heard before...piano. The tones here almost equate to a love song of sorts, especially in the way the vocals are delivered.

Much of the pacing of this album was slow, or mid-tempo, which is unusual for the genre. Unfortunately, faster-paced songs are also one of the strength of the genre, because you can hide flaws in them. What we are left with here is an album that fails to energize you, as the riffs are overly simple.
