When dealing with modern Metal school, the fans must have in mind that Metalcore, New Metal and Groove Metal aren't the only genres in it. There's an ample range of musical genres under the same label, so to get the idea of "love it or hate it" (if someone has such opinion based solely on conceptions, the one who do this is an idiot) is worthy of a listening. And let EARUPT, from Belgium, show what they have on "Elements".

Brutal, greasy and filled with an abrasive Groove Metal insight, their music is filled with excellent melodies as well, and a good technical level can be noted in many moments (besides it's not their main feature). But is incredible how they work with melodic choruses. The guitars are abrasive with their riffs, the bass guitar and drums create a solid rhythmic base (with a very good technical insight, as can be heard on "Shedding Skin"), and excellent melodic vocals (that contrasts perfectly with some aggressive grunts in many points). Yes, it's good and creative.

The production was done in a way that could join the modern power of their music (the aggressiveness, the weight and the abrasive groove) with a clean sound quality that allows the listeners to understand what is being played without problems. And to make something that can be understood with such greasy instrumental tunes is a hard work, sometimes.

The abrasive melodies shown on "Shedding Skin" (that presents very good vocals, indeed and great hooking chorus), the Prog/Groove touch on the rhythm of "Hooked on Life" (very good tempos, and bass guitar and drums are great), and the same elements are presented on "Bare Knuckle Fight" as well; the melodic and well-worked harmonies of "Elements" (fine work from guitars, indeed), and the charming modern melodies on "Broken Wings" and on "Heatwave" (this last one has a very good accessible touch) are the best moments of this album, but as long as the listener gets used to "Elements", the more will love it.

"Elements" is a fine album, and EARUPT made a great work on it. May the future shine bright for them.
